If your label says…

“dl-alpha tocopherol, acetate or succinate" next to Vitamin E

It is made from petrochemicals, a.k.a. petroleum.


If your label says…

“Cholecalciferol and/or Ergosteral, Calciferol” next to Vitamin D

It was most likely made from Fermented GMO Corn, Hydrochloric Acids and Acetone. Synthetically “laboratory-produced” isolate, meaning it’s only 1/8 of a Vitamin C molecule.

Mother Nature knew what she was doing when she created vitamin C-rich fruits, berries and plants. Scientists now know that vitamin C isolates such as ascorbic acid do not provide the health benefits that whole food forms of vitamin C do.

• Vitamin A (Look for fish oils – if it states “Acetate” and/or “Palmitate”)

• Vitamin B1 (Thiamine – Thiamine Mononitrate & Hydrochloride)

• Pantothenic Acid (Calcium D-Pantothenate)

• Vitamin B12 (Cobalamin)

• PABA (Para-aminobenzoic Acid – Aminobenzoic Acid)

• Choline (Choline Chloride, Choline Bitartrate)

• Biotin (d-Biotin)

• Vitamin E (dl-alpha tocopherol, acetate or succinate)


In addition look for words that end in…

“ide” or “ate” or “dl”:

If you see… (carbonate” or “ascorbate”) it indicates that the product is likely synthetic.

If you see… (chloride, hydrochloride, acetate or nitrate) on the list of ingredients, it’s synthetic.

Also look for the letters… "dl" prior to the name of an ingredient. This indicates synthetic.

"All vitamins with two-part names such as ascorbic acid, thiamine hydrochloride, calcium citrate, etc are actually synthesized in labs to USP standards, rendering them much different than their natural counterparts."

Look for “100% Natural” on the label.

Just because the label says “natural,” or 100% natural, doesn’t mean 100% natural. Our label laws states the product needs to be ONLY 10% to make that statement! Yes, crazy ... huh.

Look for the “food source” list on the label.

If the product’s label does not contain a list of “natural” food sources, then it’s likely synthetic.

Look for Whole Foodson the label verses an independent ingredient.

If you see "Vitamin C" as an ingredient, it’s very probable that the vitamin is synthetic.

It’s better to look for foods that contain a certain vitamin, such as “acerola cherry powder,” which contains Vitamin C.
